When you’re behind on mortgage payments, losing your home might sound like the worst thing that could happen.

But losing a home isn’t the worst consequence of foreclosure.

A foreclosure on your credit report means your credit will be destroyed for up to 10 years. And these days, bad credit can prevent you from getting reasonable rates on a car loan, a credit card, and an insurance policy. AND it can prevent you from owning a cell phone, renting a home, or even getting a job.
